Howdy everyone:

This RKS forum is dedicated to topics related to edged weapons, misc. cutlery, sharpening "stuff", sheaths, handles, blade metals, polishing, "how-to's", "what-to-do's", "help-me-with's", etc., etc., etc....
We already have a fine, established "hunting" forum and have discussed those type of chores on it. There will most certainly be some crossover topics. That's "AOK". If you've got a favorite pocket knife that you carry in the woods, please feel free to share it with us. If you have a favorite knife maker that doesn't have their own dedicated forum, please tell us about it.
The point is that a good number of the RKS knife-related "sub forums" are insulated from a lot of topics and discussion. I hope you will find this place a place to open that discussion. We have some excellent examples already being moved here. Let's build on them, add to them and, of course, participate!!!
Thanks for visiting and please feel free to log in, sign up and share your passion with us. I only ask that this forum be kept civil, respectful, free from bad language and a place that everyone will (would) feel welcome.
Best, Capt. Chris Stanaback

This's from Italian Knife Guild member Roberto Bernini.
Title: "my first Bowie"
Roberto is well known in Italy as the "Italian Randall" as per his inspiration in doing his knives. He doesn't forge but he's the best Maestro on the grind machine.

Very nice knives, is that ironwood on the Bowie? If so, I knew there was a reason I liked you.:)

I am thinking about getting the Case/Winkler "skinner" knife. I saw one of the first ones at the BLADE show. Looks and feels good but kind of pricey.

Any thoughts about this?

I need another knife like a hole in the head, but they are like 22 rifles and ammo, can't have enough of them!!

Big dog!! Great to see a post by you my friend!! I agree with you, fantastic knife, but pricey...probably worth it to have at least one in your collection though...

Take care, and God Bless

Scott,
Being that the blade on the Winkler/Case knife is five inches long,it is pretty much frowned upon in my state unless you are actually hunting or fishing or trapping.

Try to explain it on your hip while you are going to and from those locations can be..............interesting.

I like pushing the envelope, but not from the slam!!!

Francesco Pachi is a great photographer! Recently, I got carried away with folding daggers, they are of little use in everyday life or hunting, unless I want to pierce something. But they are very pretty. Recently I have been looking for Jack Levin products, like in the picture, but he seems to have gone out of business about 7-8 years ago.

Now my most used knife A.G. Russell vest pocket semi-skinner. Cuts well and steel is excellent.

He is also a helluva' nice guy. Guido introduced me to him at Blade. We had dinner and I was so impressed by him and his work, I actually "gave" him a RMK over dinner one night! He came to my booth the next morning with a signed copy of his (& Steve Shackleford's) book on Bill Moran. It is a treasure added to my knife book library.
Best, Capt. Chris
