In the spirit of providing more ideas via photos, here's a quick and not-so-good photo of my first #2, a #2-8", that I received on Friday: The options are as follows: stainless steel, nickel silver hilt, aluminum/black spacers, Ivorite handle, and nickel silver butt cap (radiused). I also specified a black no-hone sheath.

I like what Ken just posted with a few changes: stainless steel, nickel silver hilt, aluminum/red spacers, black handle (micarta or black/dark exotic wood), and nickel silver butt cap (radiused). Black no-hone sheath if micarta used or dark brown if dark brown wood used. My .02.

These are all great knives being shown, but it seems to me we are getting a long ways from Capt Chris's original idea of these 1-28 builds. I thought the intent was for pretty close to catalog, with one or two improvements. Feel free to set me straight if I got the wrong idea.

I'm with Chad. Make it like the catalog and just add a wrist thong.

Capt. Chris,
As we all know, we can close our eyes, throw a dart at a Randall catalog and hit a perfect knife every time. I started out with the build perameters in my mind--including your leather handle and 7" instructions and then.......got a little carried away as I read others' ideas. Brass hilt seemed a given, so why not FCH and then black/brass spacers morphed into "scalloped brass collar" which then turned into...matching scalloped and flanged brass butt cap.
So, meanwhile, back to the intent of the original build how about: Carbon blade N/S hilt to match up with standard duralumin butt cap Wrist thong
A difference of approx. $35 vs the land of approx. $125 extra or so where I was heading. (Yes, I know my math is probably not exactly accurate but, who cares?).Sounds like a great Randall!
Thanks for more great, interesting builds!
