Is there anything different about the design of this knife now compared to when it was a guarded design from Stoddard's?

Yes there is, Keith. Because the original knife was shipped to (and sold in) Massachusetts, there was no top bevel allowed (Mass.??). The new-n-improved Sarge's knife will have the top bevel sharpened. I thought I included this in my description. It never made sense to me for it "not" to have one...now it does. Hope this helps.
Best, Capt. Chris

Thanks Capt! The sharpened top bevel is a GREAT addition to an otherwise GREAT knife!

I think the sharpened top bevel along with the Stainless Steel option make this a GREAT choice. I've been trying to get Tony to sell me his Stoddard's for a while now. Guess I don't have to do that anymore.

Hi Scott
I know you were looking for one for a while, and now you can get exactly what you want.
I may get another one myself as I like the blade style, I just need to decide on the options

Hi Capt. Chris

I already know ironwood border patrol handle, but I was thinking SS, brass hilt, thinned and radiused brass butt cap, wrist thong, and if I have any other options, brass and black spacers and left hand sheath.

Well...I can help you with one thing. You "won't" have any options left for the brass spacers...There! Didn't that feel better? (Actually: Sounds like a nice knife)
Best, Capt. Chris

That's what I thought

1 ss
2 ironwood
3 border patrol
4 brass butt
5 wrist thong

so either rwb spacers or all black spacers

I'm thinking:

Black micarta, border patrol, brass/black spacers, carbon blade, brass butt, squared top brass hilt.
