Thanks Chris!

How much does does the shop charge for a Bowie clip point?

Besides the #15, can you tell us on what other models it is available as an option?

Thank you.

Cheers!

David

Capt Chris,

When ordering a Model #11 in either 4-1/2" or 5", is the additional length/cost included as a chargeable option, or are there still 5 options left to choose from... I found this one scanning thru Ebay and it's being advertised as "a seven option knife". I counted six options w/ out taking the 5" length into consideration, and I'm wondering if the 5" is open to interpretation as an option.

Thanks,

Mike,
It has 6 options...period! No interpretation. The seller is probably comsidering the thumb nothces an option, but they are standard on this model. No extra option counted for 4", 4 1/2" or 5". His sheath is standard also so there's no floating option there...there. Hope this helps.
Best, Capt. Chris
PS: Options include...

* Nickel silver single hilt
* Aluminum & black spacers
* Stag handle
* RH finger grips
* Wrist thong
* Compass installed

I had already contacted the seller and mentioned that I thought he was mistaken and asked if he was including the thumb notches, which I let him know were standard on the Mode #11... He replied that it's a 5" blade and that is an option... I didn't want to quibble w/ him, so I went to you for an expert opinion... err, I mean fact!!...Thanks for the reply, 'cause it's reassuring to know that I OCCASIONALLY know what I'm talking about.

Thanks again,

Well....It "is" an option. You have the option to order that blade length. It just isn't a "chargeable" option. A Model #11-5" with thumb notches, carbon blade, duralumin butt cap and a leather handle is a "standard" knife. Same for a 4 1/2" or a 4"...Yada dada.... My old man always said to never argue with an idiot, cause anyone else watchin' doesn't know which is which...Glad you had it right all along.
Best, Capt. Chris

Capt Chris,

According to the RMK website: Please Note: On 4 1/2" and 5" sheaths, the keeper strap snaps around the handle because there isn't enough room above the hone pocket for a diagonal strap... Is this true for all Model A 5" sheaths, because I saw a Model 25-5 on Evil-Bay last week that had a Model A sheath w/ the diagonal keeper strap... The seller added photos showing the back of the sheath indicating that it was indeed for a 25-5, and it was not stamped "R" indicating a replacement... I'm kinda regretting not getting this one because it seems that it sold for not too far over what it would have cost from the shop w/ the stainless blade, sheath, and wrist thong.

Model #25's "usually" come with a pouch sheath. You can request a Model "A" sheath but it is not the norm. Model #1, #3, and #5's with a 5" blade come with a hone pocket "and" a diagonal keeper strap. Many models with 4-4 1/2" blades exclude the diagonal keeper strap, along with "some" 5" models...but not "all". I read the same thing in the catalog before posting this clarification....dunno?? I guess everything printed in the catalog and on the website leaves itself open to "interpretation".
Best, Capt. Chris
PS: Just for comparison: Here's a 5" Model #3 and #4 with stock (standard) sheaths from the Randall shop...CCS

I don't know how much this is worth, but when I ordered my last 25-5 (in October of last year), I requested a model A sheath and was told by Val that it wasn't available for that knife.

I'm sorry Jeff but either you misstated what you were wanting or you misunderstood Val. There IS an option of the model A sheath for the 25-5, however, there is NO option for a pouch sheath for the 25-6.(at least thru the RMK shop that is)
