Jeff--

I had been looking at Kevlar and other materials as cordage, but for high strength this looks appealing. And it is more affordable than the Kevlar I had found on the web.

I have to keep in mind that one of the advantages of paracord is that the separate strands inside the outer sheath can be pulled out and used individually for a lot of applications.

Tradeoffs, tradeoffs....

Larry

Larry, I've been using that cord since it came out about four months ago (I was turned on to it by Jeff Randall - you know, the OTHER Randall guy). It's pretty rare these days to find something that lives up to the hype. This does. No, you can't skin it down and use it for fishing line, but like you say, tradeoffs, tradeoffs. It's worth every penny.

Tony,

Don't overlook some of the other websites that I listed in my first post. Going Gear, TAD Gear, and Best Glide have a lot of other neat stuff.

They almost make getting lost sound like fun! grin

Anyone know the internal dimensions of the 18's handle and what pill bottle/cap fits inside, if any?
I'd like to stuff gear into the bottle and be able to pop it in and out of the 18 as needed.

Great thread, Tom! And keep those web sites comming. I,too, like gadgets and especially ones tried out and recommended by guys on the Forum.
And how timely as I've had my # 18 Randall for only a few weeks.

Does it fit in the handle and will a compass-cap close with that inside the handle?
Have you tried it yet?
Looks nicely made.

They make the "peanut" and the mini peanut. I bought 2 of the mini-peanut lighters. They are cool but the lighter fluid doesn't last very long inside the #18 handle. Needs to be refueled every 2-3 days if you are seriously thinking of using it. Cute little devil though and very well made.
