This award began in 2005. This is the beginning of the seventh year. Everything is born from an idea of Rhett Stidham and myself. The logo was designed by Rick Bowles.
I am very proud of this adventure: "Thanks Rhett!"

While waiting for the poll and the ANNUAL WINNER of the 2010/2011 Contests (Rick Bowles will submit a new post and he will set up the poll) - we start with the NEW May/June Contest, year 2011/2012

EDO Photo Contest Rules:

1) The EDO Photo Contest is specifically designed to encourage and promote photographic excellence, and the photos are judged based on their technical *and* creative merits.

2) The First Place winner receives an award.

3) If the judges determine that a Second Place winner is appropriate, one will be determined. However, the Second Place winner does not receive an award, but instead the photo becomes eligible for the Annual EDO Photo Contest. Note that not all EDO Photo Contests will have a Second Place winner.

4) Each person is allowed to submit only one photo, and the photo must be their own original work.

5) The EDO Photo Contest will be run semi-monthly, specifically for two-month periods.

6) The forum members will vote for the winner of the Annual EDO Photo Contests. If one has more than one photo in the Annual EDO Photo Contest, meaning that one was First or Second Place in more than one semi-monthly EDO Photo Contest, one has the option to include only one photo, so as not to compete against oneself.

7) A photo that has been submitted for an EDO Photo Contest cannot be submitted again for subsequent EDO Photo Contests.

8) Naturally, all photos must include at least one genuine Randall Made knife.

The three judges are Edoardo Garofoli, Jim Gates, and Ken Lunde.

-----------------------------------------------

Please note the following:

- Photos are entered in an EDO Photo Contest by posting them directly to this thread, either as an attachment or hosted externally.

- The EDO Photo Contest thread is not for discussing the rules, and it is also not for complementing someone on a photo that they entered. Such posts shall be promptly removed by a Moderator. If you wish to make such posts, please do so in a separate thread.

- This EDO Photo Contest closes at 12PM EST on June 30, 2011.

If you host the photo elsewhere, there is no limit, except a practical limit. The practical limit is that it fits for most screen sizes. There's nothing worse than having to scroll to see an entire photo. My photos use a 2x3 aspect ratio, and I generally use 1000 pixels as the longest dimension. For landscape orientation, that means the photo is 1000 pixels wide.

If you upload the photo to the forum, using the File Manager, the limit is 250K.

Ken,
I always thought the limit was 100K ?????
That's what has been stated in the past.
Has it changed?
Thanks,
Tony

If it's over 100K the photo won't appear in the post. A link will appear that opens the photo.

Or at least that's what happens to me.

Such as this one at 139K.

Yep! That's why I always "save for the web" in Photoshop and adjust the
Quality setting so it's around 95-99K.
