In the book there is talk of a Randall knife, but you are not sure if it is Randall in Orlando or the other Randall Knives. Any of you know more? oldguy

While Mr. Randall King in Asheville N.C. does sell a fixed blade RandallKingKnife, RKK, I would have to go with the knife mentioned being a "Randall Made Knife" from Orlando, Florida based on previous Special Operations use of the "Randall Made Knife", oldguy.

Keep in mind I was not there but did hear from a very reliable source:

The Randall Knife referred to in the book was a Model #14. The SEAL Operator was shot but the bullet actually struck his knife preventing the bullet from entering his leg. The knife was obviously damaged.

If this incident was during the battle described in Black Hawk Down, I believe this could be the knife that is pictured and discussed in one of the RKS newsletters. I say this conditionally--a friend borrowed my newsletters and I cannot provide a specific reference to the article until I get them back.

Actually, I am not sure whether the knife in the newsletter was carried by a SEAL, or even whether the SEALs were participants in the battle described in the book and the movie. So--maybe I have to hit the bookstore and pick up a copy of this book, and maybe ask my friend to return my newsletters!

The Randall knife carried by Seal John Gay in Blackhawk Down was a Model 15. Here is a pic against a backdrop of a map of Mog:
