Does anyone know anything about this older model Buck?
I just came upon a few on line. Haven't bought one. I like this style, but I'm not
sure I would use it, seeing as it's a discontinued model?

Model: BUCK Trailblazer 317
Blade Length: 4-1/8"
Closed Length: 5-1/4"
Handle material: Sawcut delrin
Blade material: Stainless Steel

The Buck 317 (as all the Buck folders at that time) was actually made by Camillus. If memory serves the steel was 440B that was used in all their folders. It was a wonderful knife and quite a few squids on my ship carried them (DD-886) back in '72/'73 and I saw some of them that were carried by SEAL team members and some of the men in I.U.W.G.1 (my unit) from '74-'76.
Cold steel (after Buck production had stopped) had a close arrangement with Camillus (that's why there is no longer any Carbon V being made, Camillus went out of business). Cold.steel introduced the same model as the 317 but with Carbon V blades and (although I can't see it from your photo) there is a slight beveling forming a channel from the lanyard hole towards the rear of the knife to allow the lanyard to not interfere with the movement of the blades. This channel was not on the Cold Steel Knives. If any of the Bucks had a negative point about them it was the non-stainless springs which rusted quite easily.

Thanks for the info.
I did buy one shortly after my post and I do carry it occasionally.
Great folder.
I'll post pics shortly.
