Static Line, Free-Fall jumps in the US and later during work in S.E Asia, some training in HALO/HAHO, along with a bunch of "Hollywood" jumps in my free time.

"Master Blaster?" or "Super Master Blaster", is a military term and I spent the majority of my time in Asia as a Civilian.

Heck, my secretary jumped! Once! Course she was in a tandem rig.
Used to call me "old man" I told her "jump out of the airplane 'kid' and then we will talk". She did jump. (one time) that was enough for her. She later became a NAUI "Master Scuba Diver" & IANTD "Elite Diver", started her own dive company and traveled the world diving for big bucks. One of our members (David) on the board, a Master Diver might have even met her.

The Seals constantly practice Tandem Jumping. When you want to get a specialist in a field into a area, it beats the heck out of months of training like I had.

The top paracord is intended for several purposes / all of them related to attaching the sheath in various ways to a variety of equipment. Shoulder hook-up, inverted on a jump harness or MaeWest are just a couple of them. Ben was also correct in mentioning a pack...but also a pack "horse" or just about anything else you can conjour up!
I have a #18-5 1/2" that I rig up on a small day pack (Used mostly at night, actually) when trailing game. It mounts on my left shoulder, inverted and ready to go should I need it for "God knows what". Track a big boar at night and you'll figure it out! Thi rig allows me to carry my Glock 10mm on my right hip and neither interfere with each other.

Capt. If your into serious hunting look into a Mystery Ranch or Kifaru pack. MR is the best for hunting. Plus you can have Pals webbing on the waistbelt and have your pistol on it or whatever else you need.

PS. My Mystery Ranch packs have a elastic band on the strap near the top, that combined with the 550 tie would be a pretty good securement method I would think!

I would not jump one time either :-) I dont trust this parachute things lol

When I was a GI (long ago) I carried my 8" Model 1 strapped to the outside of my right thigh; it worked just fine. The lower thong wrapped around by leg but I used a cut-down GI belt & buckle (covered with olive-drab tape to eliminate the shine) through the upper belt loop and around my leg instead of the upper leather thong because it felt like a tournequet when tightened. The outer thigh position was the best place to carry the knife in the field-- it had to be out of the way but still accesible and in a place that would not get covered with mud & dirt or be in a position to accidentally stab myself by poking through the sheath.

One day when returning to our Kaserne from a field exercise in Germany, a snotty little MP accosted me for carrying an illegal (over 4" blade) knife and took me to the MP station. Of course, in addition to the Randall, I was carrying an M14 rifle, 80 rounds of ammo, a Walther PP, and two grenades. The young MP explained to the old desk sergeant that I was carrying an illegal knife; the ol' sarge looked at me and then the young MP and growled "Get outta here!"

Well I don't know about either. Tom, did Captain show it in this forum?? If so, where??

I don't get on the forum much really.

I do not remember seeing the Upper-Tie-down method he uses.
Maybe someone else has the info.

For 21 years, I have backpacked with a Dana Design Terraplane pack. If Dana Gleason is making his Mystery Ranch packs like the old Dana Design packs, they are bomb proof. Good suggestion, Ben.





Since we were talking Model C sheaths tie downs, I was thinking about the additional weight of a #14 & #18 being strapped onto an arm or leg with paracord. I can see where a Model 1 with a wide strap through the belt loop would work on the thigh. Good story. Thanks for sharing!
