When ordering a Combat Companion, I am changing the handel material to Maroon Micarta with a single finger grip. Is this one change or two?

I see it as one because once the material is micarta, it has to be shaped some how...right?

ETA: It's two options per speaking with Capt Chris. Thanks!

A Combat Companion (or Model #1) can be ordered straight or commando-shaped with leather at no additional charge. Adding maroon micarta is "one" chargeable option. You can have it with a straight (traditional) handle or commando at no additional options charge, as it is available normally with either at no charge. Border Patrol, Single Finger Grip or RH/LH finger grips are all "chargeable" on a Combat companion. Good talkin' to you today. I just posted this for everyone else. Hope this helps somebody.
Best, Capt. Chris

I have seen a couple of #4 -8" style fighting knives for sale online. Can you still order a knife like this from RMK Shop? If so what are the different options? Thanks,Jimmy.

Model #4 in a "7" inch blade or shorter is available. I have not seen any 8" models. They have not been made at the Randall shop for 3 decades or better. Every time I say "they never made it" I find I'm seriously wrong. They haven't made it in a very long time. The ones I have ordered for customers and the ones I have seen for sale are all 7".
At any rate: A Model #4-6" or 7" can be ordered with the top bevel sharpened, double hilt, and whatever else you can conjure up. Remember...5 options is the limit. "TB" and "double hilt" would be 2 of those 5. Hope this helps Jimmy. Keep your head down...
Best, Capt. Chris

Jimmy,

The Model #4-8" fighters you have seen were probably the 4th edition of the Randall Knife Society Club knife.

Capt. Chris--

I suspect that the "Model 4-8" that is being referred to is the RKS limited edition with the upswept blade.

Viewers will see them on eBay on occasion.

If I recall, the sheath for my RKS is marked "4 8."

Others might know if RMK ever made the standard Model 4 in an 8-inch blade. I have not gone back through older catalogues to see if they did offer it in an 8-inch blade, although I suspect you and others have seen Model 8 blade styles in pretty large RMK knives. I suspect that the one or two that I have seen were made long ago as one-off's or special request knives.

Good point, Larry and "Tune". Sheath might say "4-8" but of course it's a far cry from a #4-8/ You're most probably correct...makes sense.

Apologies to tunefink for basically repeating what he posted about this.

for some reason when I opened this thread the last entry that appeared was the Captain's. I replied to his post, then later I came back online and saw the post by tunefink.
