The "ONLY" Stanaback Specials that had or have numbers were leather handles. The 4" version was a traditional straight leather handle, red, white & blue spacers and was limited to 100. This was in the late 80's. The longer one (4 5/8") was also leather (still is: I have a handful left) but had all brass hardware (hilt, spacers and butt cap and a "commando-shaped" handle. There were /are going to be a total of 200 numbered.
Best, Capt. Chris

Peter,
Sorry...Wrong photo. It is a correct photo of one of my Limited II Stanaback Spls., but doesn't show the whole knife. Try this:

...also the 4" blade has the number etched on the front of the blade beside the RMK stamping..the 4 5/8" blade is etched on the back side of the blade.

Thanks Capt. Chris
Mine is ordered with the left hand sheath, otherwise it should be the same as your picture.
There are so many variations and intricate details about these Randalls that makes it so interesting. I am learning more all of the time thanks to all of the great contributors in these forums.

That knife gets better looking every time I see it. I have a couple model 11's with slabbed sides, but like it on the SS a lot too!

Nice pic!

Rex,
A good friend of mine, and a forum member, had a slab side Stanaback Special done with this very idea (actually: It was my idea) about 5 years ago, except it was with whitetail deer tracks. It's an awesome concept and yours looks every bit as way-cool as his!!
Best, Capt. Chris

I took a good amount of "orders" for those, Tom...but I "told ya" I'd save them for you!! True: They were the only pair that is "sold", as in finished, but a decent amount of folks are signed up!! Good luck with them!
Best, Capt. Chris
